Every name and figure below is a placeholder showing the shape of an edition. Bracketed notes explain what each element does.

The Playbook · A Voter Brain Briefing

[Race — Office, District/State]

Edition — [Day, Month Date, Year] [Your Campaign] vs. [Opponent] · Election: [date] · [N] days out

Not opposition research — the lay of the land. Where each campaign stands on money, message, and ground game, side by side, refreshed every edition so the picture never goes stale.

What changed since the last edition · [the 2–3 newest facts, one line]

Your comparisons — this race, over the whole cycle

[Opponent] — general election Active [Primary rival] — primary Archived · [date] [The field] — [N] announced candidates Archived · [date] + Add a comparison

[Design note: a subscription starts with whoever is in front of the candidate — or nobody yet — and comparisons are added as the race takes shape: a primary rival, the nominee, a past cycle. Nothing is rebuilt; the edition grows. Archived comparisons stay readable.]

The Read

The whole race on one screen. Detail follows below.

Money

[One line: who leads each money line, by how much, and the filing status behind the numbers.]

Message

[One line per side: the frame each campaign is running, in five words or fewer.]

Ground Game

[One line: the visible field picture — events, organization, endorsements — and how readable it is.]

[The edition’s main read, three or four sentences: the story of the race right now, the number that proves it, and what it means for the subscriber’s next three weeks.]

The one thing to watch: [the single pending fact that could rewrite the next edition — a filing, a debate, a vote window — and why.]

Money

Principal campaign committees only, verified against filings. When the two sides’ reports cover different dates, the table says so.

Total receipts, spending, cash on hand, and debt — cycle-to-date through each committee’s latest filed report

CampaignThroughTotal receiptsSpentCash on handDebt
[Your Campaign][date]$0,000,000$0,000,000$0,000,000$0
[Opponent] [filing-status flag, e.g. “Q3 not yet filed”][date]$0,000,000$0,000,000$0,000,000$0

Cash on hand, latest filed report:

[Your Campaign]$0.0M
[Opponent]$0.0M
Read: [what the table means — burn rate, what the quarter shows, what the gap buys in the stretch.]
Outside spending: [support/oppose aggregation by group — who is spending, for whom, on what. Present in every edition.]

State B — before an opponent is set

[Design note: many subscribers sign up before they have an opponent. The edition still publishes — Money becomes your standing plus the field, and the comparison table activates the day an opponent is set.]

CampaignStatusTotal receiptsCash on hand
[Your Campaign][filed through date]$0,000,000$0,000,000
[Announced candidate][filed through date]$0,000,000$0,000,000
[Announced candidate][filed through date]$0,000,000$0,000,000
[Rumored / exploring]No committee filed——
Read: [your standing against the field as it exists today — who could enter, what the filing deadline is, and what we are watching.]

Message

What each side is saying, where they’re saying it, and which lines are landing.

[Your Campaign]: [frame in a few words]

[What the campaign is saying, the evidence — events, ads, coverage — and what it is conspicuously not saying.]

[Opponent]: [frame in a few words]

[Same treatment. In State B, this block covers the field’s messages instead — or the issue landscape the eventual opponent will inherit.]

Where Pulse fits: when a line is tested on the synthetic panel, the scorecard verdict lands here — which lines travel with persuadable voters, and which only preach to the converted.

Ground Game

Field presence, endorsements, and organizational signals — the parts of a race that never appear in a finance report.

[Both sides’ visible ground operations: offices, events, endorsements, party and allied-group activity — with an honest note on how readable each side’s operation is from outside.]

What’s Next

Dated, and tied to this race — not a generic calendar.

  • [Date]

[Pending filing or event.] [Why it matters to this race.]

  • [Date range]

[Voting window.] [What gets measured while it runs.]

  • [Date]

[Election Day.] [What the final edition carries.]

  • [Date]

[Post-election filings due.] [The closing audit.]

Sources & Method

Money figures are pulled from the Federal Election Commission’s records for each candidate’s principal campaign committee — [committee links] — checked [date]. Figures are cycle-to-date through each committee’s latest filed report; the table shows each report’s coverage end date. Reported-but-unfiled figures are labeled as reported, never blended with filed numbers.

An honest line: this briefing is a sourced lay of the land with stated limitations — dates and coverage windows are shown wherever they change the meaning of a number.
